Down Time

After almost 3 full months of work with no days off (submitting, auditioning, booking & shooting), I decided to take a little break the past two weeks. I canceled auditions and didn't submit. I needed some down time to recharge and get ready for my next round of auditions, gigs, etc..

Today is the first day back into auditions. I have one audition today with Fremantle Media in Burbank for a new game show. I like game show auditions, it's all about being a big personality and pretending your NOT a working actor. Since I also am a positive body image coach that teaches SUP Shape-Up (which is a fitness class that combines dance, pilates & yoga on a stand up paddle board in the ocean) casting directors usually love that!

I have auditions lined up all week, one is a lead role in a new pilot. The character is a pet psychic, which I LOVE! Should be a really fun audition.

While I'm not looking forward to the drive from Malibu to Burbank today, I am excited to get back into full gear of submitting, auditioning, booking, shooting!

Working in Hollywood Over 40, oops I mean 29!

February 2011 I woke up and decided to go back to pursuing my career as a working actor after a 12 year hiatus. I had a nice headshot from a women's empowerment workshop where I was a guest speaker, so I took that headshot posted it on LA Casting, Actors Access and Back Stage and within 2 days had 7 auditions lined up. Within a week I booked a lead in an Indy Short called Last Resort System. I have worked every single day since either auditioning or booked gigs. I finally took my first week off May 23, after 3 months of straight work auditioning (8 auditions in one day once), 2 Grad film festival films, 4 short Indy film festival films, 1 full length feature film (still filming, 2012 release), 5 commercials and 2 industrials. It's been a wild fun ride, so I thought I would chronicle my journey, to prove that YES you can work in Hollywood, no matter what your age or experience level!
